SKIN TYPE?

Before we help you find your skin type, we would love explain what a Dosha is, but even before that, we would like to first tell you a little bit about Ayurvedic Medicine, which is the basis for these products!

(If you are more visual, skip to the skin tiles and find your skin type that way.)

Ayurvedic Medicine is an ancient holistic healing practice that originated in India well over 5000 years ago and is still practiced all over the world.

The principle foundation of Ayurvedic medicine is the relationship between specific natural elements; Earth, Space, Air, Water, and Fire.

These elements when combined in a specific way, create energy combinations, called Doshas.

There are three pirmary Doshas; Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Everyone has a unique combination of all three Doshas. Some say it is as specific as your fingerprint!

According to Ayurvedic teachings, every person tends to have one dominant Dosha with all Doshas present in some degree all working synergistically with each other.

Each Dosha exhibits certain traits based on its element combination.

Below are examples of some traits for each Dosha:

Vata Dosha is a combination of Air & Space. This combination can be summed up as cold, dry, light, spacious, flowing, and rough.

Pitta Dosha is a combination of Fire & Water. This combination can be described as hot, sharp, oily, liquid and moving.

Kapha Dosha is a combination of Water & Earth. This combination can be summed up as soft, slow, bold, stable, heavy.

When all Doshas are in perfect balance, this is called Tridosha, which is said to be very rare, but certainly possible.

The ultimate goal in Ayurvedic medicine is to balance the Dosha.

When the Doshas are out of balance, or imbalanced, due to factors like not drinking enough water, overconsuming foods, or consuming the wrong ones, not exercising and so much more.

Each Dosha is unique in it's manifestation and requirements to balance it.

When the Doshas are out of balance as it relates to the skin, we begin to see and feel unpleasant symptoms like very dry skin, very oily skin, inflammation, even things like psoriasis, and more!

Every individual Dosha combination manifests differently in the skin and body.

The Ayurvedic teachings tells us that knowing your unique combination of Doshas isn't as important as understanding what your dominant or pre-Dosha is.

The focus is to balance the primary Dosha and support the other two.

We have put together some graphics to help you understand what Dosha may be manifesting as your dominant Dosha as it relates to your Skin.

Choose the Dosha skin type that best describes your skin.

Remember, you are a combination of all Doshas, so you could resonate with one or more in some way.

The key is to pick the Dosha that BEST describes your skin.

When you know your Skin Dosha, you can then use the Dosha to guide you through our website to information and products that are geared for you.

So, click a tile that best describes you and let's get you healing!
